You should clean the Cookies, Temp and Temporary Internet files at least once a week. There are a lot of spyware that gets left on your computer when surfing. Not only do you get spyware but you could also have some viruses so make sure you run your virus scan at least once a week also.
Want to keep your computer running smoothly? Would you like to possibly speed it up at the same time? There is a simple little utility program built into Windows that will help you do just that. It is called Disk Defragmenter.
Don't be put off by the name. It sounds a bit complicated, but defragmenting your hard disk is easy. You just need a little knowledge about how a computer works to understand what disk defragmentation is and how it works. Click Here to watch the video
You should so a system restore at least once a week. You should also do a system restore before applying any new software or updates you are not sure about. System Restore will allow you to take you computer back before the install was done. Watch the Video
Removing the start up program will hlep your computer boot up faster. You should leave your Anti-Virus program running at start up. Go to Start button > Run > and type in "msconfig". This will bring up the properties box and you need to click on the Start Tab. You will then UNCHECK the programs you do not to start up. You will be asked to restart you computer; do this. After the computer starts up again you will see a box with a check box in it. Put a check in it and close the box. You are done. Watch the Video
